Who: Rooney Mara
Where: New York premiere of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Why we like it: This is a perfect example of a look where false lashes have been used to really enhance a look without heavy eyeliner. Her sublte eye paired with a bold lip is a polished but not over done look perfect for a premiere.
How to get it at home: Start with a very matte finish foundation such as NARS’ Sheer Matte Foundation $42, which ensures shine-free skin all day. Conceal any flaws with a concealer such as Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer Kit $32 and set your base with a loose powder such as Make Up For Ever’s HD Microfinish Powder $30. Using an angled brush, contour your cheeks and jawline with a matte bronzer such as Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder $29. A good rule to remember when contouring the face is to follow the line that runs from the top of the ear to the corner of the lips about halfway. This will give you a more natural shadow than the typical fish-face application technique. Fill in your brows with Bare Escentuals’ Essential Brow Color $11 and set with a brow gel if necessary. With Stila’s It Girl Eye Shadow Palette #2 $14, use the nude pink as a base and contour the crease line with the matte taupe. Be sure to apply your mascara before applying your individual lashes; this will give the lashes something to grip onto. Always use a clear lash glue such as Duo Eyelash Adhesive in Clear $8. Black lash glues are unecessary and can ruin the whole look. Lastly, finish off this look with an opaque lip color with a bit of shine such as Urban Decay’s Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Fbomb $19.
