In 2014, Jeffree Star — social media celebrity, makeup artist, vlogger, musician, mortal enemy to Kat Von D — launched his eponymous beauty brand. He was one of the first big-name male beauty bloggers/entrepreneurs, paving the way for people like CoverGirl’s James Charles. Long before Kylie Cosmetics entered the fray, Star capitalized on our love of all that is lip-centric, matte and creamy. The Instagram beauty elite (Michelle Phan included) went gaga for his Velour Liquid Lipstick. To this day, the most popular colors frequently sell out, notwithstanding the formula’s somewhat medicinal smell.

While Jeffree Star Cosmetics boasts a strong cult following, its offerings remain fairly limited (i.e. five products). However, all that’s about to change. As Star announced in a series of tweets, he’s currently developing foundation, concealer and a highlighter palette. Then there’s his long-awaited eyeshadow kit, which is practically here. The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Androgyny Palette (gender non-binary beauty products FTW) launches March 4 at 10 a.m. EST.
In an almost 12-minute video posted to Starr’s YouTube page, the makeup mogul gives the 411 on the 10-shade eyeshadow kit. The palette comes in a hot pink leatherette case. It’s Star’s version of a neutral palette — as opposed to Beauty Killer’s hot pinks and teals, Androgyny features toned-down, earthy shades like grey-taupe (“Safe Word”), deep red (“Fetish”), olive green (“Military”) and cobalt blue (“Swallow”). It’s neutral-ish.
This time around, the formulas feel softer and “more buttery” because, as Starr explains, the pigments are triple milled. The palette boasts Starr’s new supermatte formula, which delivers richer, more opaque pigments than Beauty Killer.

As if these improvements weren’t reason enough to celebrate, drag queen-slash-singer Adore Delano and transgender YouTube vlogger Nikita Dragun star in the palette’s promos (wearing glittering, gorgeous, custom The Blonds). “I wanted to create something that EVERYONE and ANYONE could use!” Starr wrote on YouTube.
