It looks like every popular Instagram food trend will eventually inspire a new hair color. Our Pumpkin Spice Latte obsession led to a rich shade of copper. And now the latest color craze takes its cue from Instagram’s most popular dessert: macarons.
The photogenic treat comes in pastel hues like lavender, baby pink, peach, pale yellow and mint green, making it the perfect inspiration for a soft multidimensional hair color.
Shelley Gregory of Las Vegas’s Atelier by Square Salon created the look to mirror the macarons in Paris’ Ladurée pastry shop, Cosmopolitan reports. To achieve the look, Gregory hand paints sections of the hair in layers, using varying shades of pastel color.
Macaron hair blends the aforementioned colors with baby blue and silver for a muted yet mesmerizing look. Braids really make the color variation pop, but macaron hair is just as stunning styled in twin buns (with glitter roots, of course). Our favorite macaron-inspired hairstyle? A fresh blowout that gives us dreamy unicorn vibes. Swoon!
