From Bold to Nude, the 15 Best Lip Colors from the Spring Runways

From supersaturated scarlets to popping geranium shades, statement lips in various tones made a bold statement this season. At Zac Posen, a hint of orange in the matte red lips looked deliciously modern, while at Missoni, the classic crimson shades were anything but old-fashioned. What else made the power lip different this time around? Softened, feathery lines replaced clean, sharp edges. “This season, the lip is rich and luxe but at the same time softer around the edges. This diffusiveness is achieved by blending or dotting the color on with your fingertips – resulting in a softer, fuller look,” says Paris-based makeup artist Sergio Corvacho.

Striking shades of classic red weren’t the only statement lip colors to cause a stir this season. Popping pink hues in bubblegum tones at No. 21 and Malibu Barbie-pink at Moschino were sensational fun. Moodier mouths in rich, port shades were seen at Bibhu Mohapatra and Dolce & Gabbana. The vampy shades were blurred around the edges for a sexy, stained effect.

If models weren’t charging down the runway in a bold power lip, they were sporting sheer gloss or a nude lip balm instead. A barely-there flush of color was often customized to each model’s natural lip tone, and at Marc Jacobs, a no-makeup policy was espoused, allowing for each model’s true beauty to shine through.

So whether you’re a look-at-me extrovert or a laid-back natural beauty, there are plenty of options to choose from this spring. Click through for our picks of some of the best lip shades showcased on the runways this season.
