This look from Dolce & Gabbana is a wonderful new take on a glam day look. Far from the glossed and bronzed looks we’ve come to expect from Milan, the models’ clean, matte faces paired with defined eyeliner resulted in a look that is both glamorous and appropriate for day.
With each model looking slightly different, Trussardi surprised us by pairing their dramatic tailoring with greased and smudged eyes and a clean face. This is the type of beauty look we’ve come to expect from New York’s young designers so it was refreshing to see it on the Italian stage. Two tones of cream eyeshadow add depth to the models’ eyes and the high pigment products added shine and depth of color.
The Sportmax girl is always fresh and young and this season sported wet look hair, one of the most prevalent hair trends of the season. Achieved by dousing the hair in thickening spray and then styling it only with the hands, it was relaxed and paired perfectly with the subtly frosted lip.
At Marni, makeup artist Tom Pecheux described the look as ‘Jackie O gone wrong’. The hair was mussed but still put together and the colors were just a little off. A standard kitten flick eyeliner was modernized by using a caramel color on the upper lid and a silvery white below. While a nude liner below and dark liner above would have been expected, this variation was surprisingly chic.
Continuing with the trend of undone housewives, models at Ermanno Scervino wore messy beehives and boldly defined eyes. By smudging the eyeliner down from the outer corner, under the lower lash line, the look went from prim and polished to lived in and worn. Paired with full eyebrows and pale pink lips it was a modern take on a classic 60s look.
We’ve seen a lot of dark, shadowed eyes this season but most have played it too dark to be realistically wearable. This two toned look from Pucci is a happy medium between the harsh, overshadowed looks of the season, and a plain old smoky eye. By blending bronze shadow into the smoky eye, makeup artist Lisa Butler added depth and definition making it perfect for day or night.
