Almost a year to the date that Sarah Burton announced her departure from Alexander McQueen, the designer is announced as Givenchy creative director. Burton spent over 25 years at McQueen, and took over from the revered designer upon his tragic passing in 2010. Burton’s latest creative appointment fills the void left by Matthew M. Williamson, who departed the LVMH-owned fashion house in December 2023 after a brief 3-year stint to focus on his own label. Burton, who was awarded the Special Recognition Award at the 2023 Fashion Awards, will oversee both womenswear and menswear and is set to present her debut Givenchy collection in March 2025 during the Fall 2025 Paris Fashion Week festivities.
