Time Magazine isn’t exactly a publication which is the topic of conversation on our forums each and every month. However, when Taylor Swift is their cover star and fashion photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin are behind the lens of the cover shoot – our interest is stimulated. Across a trio of celebratory covers to end 2023, the all-American chart topper poses inside the studio of the Dutch creative twosome , shot up against a classic gray backdrop. Complete with styling from Heidi Bivens, Taylor (who we’re used to seeing splashed across the covers to Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar) is dressed in looks from fashion brands such as Area, Bardot and Polo Ralph Lauren while Taylor’s very own feline Benjamin Button gets in on the action for one of the three collectable covers.
From the moment the covers dropped, members of our forums immediately began to sound off. “They did her dirty with the hair and makeup,” scolded an unforgiving HodanChloe.
“I&V have really lost it, uh? Three bad pictures or a somewhat easy to photograph singer/celebrity,” WAVES exclaimed in total disappointment.
“Dull and empty, fitting for her personality,” voiced Petrus.
Fenty agreed, echoing: “Yeah, I&V lost their touch; boring girl and boring photography!”
Dodencebt exclaimed: “I don’t like any of the cover photos and I blame Inez & Vinoodh. We know Taylor can photograph beautifully and yet she looks uncomfortable in all three!”
“All three covers feels static, lifeless and devoid of any emotion but I’ve seen worse. Quite frankly, I’ve never fallen in love with any of Taylor Swift’s magazine work,” commented vogue28.
“Taylor reminds me a lot of Angela Lindvall, obviously without the same talent for posing for cameras… I thought the photos were terrible, but I never expect anything good from Inez & Vinoodh,” noted DK92.
