We’ve always been able to rely on British Harper’s Bazaar to capture spring beautifully. The magazine regularly makes use of shooting on location during the warmer months with select A-list talent, including Rachel Weisz and Keira Knightley. Now the publication transports us to Paris with actress Alicia Vikander for May 2022. Captured under clear blue skies, the Louis Vuitton brand ambassador wears an embellished look from the French fashion house’s Spring 2022 collection before the lens of Betina du Toit.
The cover received mixed reactions on our forums, however. “Pretty cover, but I’ll always be surprised at how poorly Alicia’s beauty translates in photoshoots. She’s absolutely gorgeous, but I think the only cover of hers I’ve ever really liked is her first U.S. Vogue one by David Sims,” voiced LastNight.
“When I think I’ve seen her worst, bam, I’m proven wrong. ATROCIOUS,” declared WAVES.
“Alicia Vi-bland-er,” remarked dfl-001.

Forum member liberty33r1b is underwhelmed: “So wrong for Harper’s Bazaar.”
“Looks like one of those phone selfie covers during the pandemic peak,” MyNameIs pointed out.
Although not everyone felt the same way. “I actually don’t mind this, especially considering what Alicia has produced in the past,” confessed Urban Stylin.
“For me, this feels like a return to form for British Harper’s Bazaar! The sight of such a pretty, delicate and season-appropriate cover is a much-welcomed sight and feels somewhat reminiscent of what Porter used to produce. I love it — Alicia as cover star included,” approved vogue28.
