The Scene: Rapper Angel Haze, currently touring the U.K. with the English rock band Bastille, was seated front row, as was Leigh Lezark.
The Inspiration: “A woman from the land,” the designer told WWD.
The Look: Jonathan Anderson continued on with his minimalist signature, but in a nod to his talent, his designs were far from forgettable despite their lack of embellishments. Instead, the designer relied on subtle details and unique silhouettes. The clean-lined collection included beautifully sculpted pieces with a particular emphasis on necklines and sleeves. The color palette stayed in the neutral territory further allowing the ruched, twisted, pleated and folded fabrics to shine.
The Accessories: In keeping with the collection’s minimalist and sculpted designs, shoes came in flat and bootie form, were monochrome and had very unique undulating silhouettes.
The Beauty: We’ve seen a ton of “no-makeup” makeup looks this season, but J.W. Anderson’s look took the cake — his models literally looked as though they were not wearing a stitch of makeup. Hair was equally frill-free, since it was side-parted and pulled into a no-fuzz ponytail.
The Takeaway: With LVMH invested in this relative newcomer, J.W. Anderson is sure to be a brand we’ll be hearing a lot more of in the seasons to come.
