The Scene: Blake Lively, Naya Rivera, Freida Pinto and Rose Byrne sat front row at the designer’s show, making it one of the most star-studded thus far.
The Inspiration: “Big Sur, Big City.”
The Look: Cozy knitwear and luxury furs ruled on Michael Kors’ Fall runway. The designer is increasingly becoming a go-to for fur outerwear and is now a solid competitor to the likes of Dennis Basso. This season he proved once again why. Of particular note was a darkly hued fur coat with a wide collar and a corded belt (fur was shaved and dyed), a boxy fur short sleeved top and a variety of lush, long fur scarves. Also supreme were the designer’s more budget-friendly long tasseled knit scarves, easy chunky knits (particularly gorgeous was an oversized knit sweater with long tassels), tailored tweeds, monochrome trenches (including one in winter white and another in camel that nearly grazed the floor), and long fringed skirts. Eveningwear, meanwhile, was light with semi-sheer fabrics adding an ethereal feel to the collection.
The Accessories: Fringe bags, bucket bags, doctor bags, leather crossbody bags, peep-toe shoes and below-the-knee boots.
The Beauty: The beauty look could not have been more fitting for a warm and cozy winter collection. Cheeks were rosy, foundation was minimal, eyes and lips were natural and hair was casually pulled back with little strands pulled out.
The Takeaway: A stellar collection with pieces that, while modern and fashion-forward, will last for seasons to come.
