Wouldn’t it be great if more designers got creative with their runway choreography? Sure there’s risk involved (namely giving models, many of whom are hustling from one show to the next, more to stress out about), but more often than not it would allow for a better view of the clothes. Case in point, Prabal Gurung‘s show this season where he had his models line up one at a time as they walked the runway in his deeply saturated, bright creations.
Highly sculpted, the designer played with volume for many of his pieces, notably outerwear and tops, which often came with oversized arms. Clashing prints and out-of-the-box fabrics (think laminated tulle) also played a critical role in the collection. Standouts included bustier dresses, 50s style pencil skirts, embroidered eveningwear and a white coat with an oversized collar and contrasting yellow lining.
