“Love it! Very festive and she looks gorgeous!!” Handbag Queen exclaimed of the cover.
Not everyone was so enthused. “She looks sad and tired. This cover is depressing,” GivenchyHomme remarked.
“The only thing that I like about the cover is the color combination,” congacon shared. “Anne looks depressing, sleepy and tired,” he added, echoing GivenchyHomme’s sentiments.
There’s something offputting about how disjointed these three Anne Hathaway-featured elements are. Anne’s editorial has no connection to her cover (Luxx even noted that it felt a bit Sound of Music-esque, “The Hills are Alive and all that”), but I’m really looking forward to seeing Les Miserables, so I feel like I can forgive all on that score. Regardless of how well these pieces do or don’t fit together, I think that the cover shot of Anne could have been better. Her smile is radiant, and it’s a shame that Vogue didn’t take advantage of that to draw readers to the newsstand. This gloomy and serious fashion picture isn’t exactly spreading any holiday cheer.
