Cara Delevingne and Saskia de Brauw Star in Chanel’s Opulent Cruise 2013 Campaign (Forum Buzz)

“Maybe I’m going crazy because I don’t like neither Karl’s photography nor Cara but I guess my love for everything Marie Antoinette overshadows that. I really enjoy those ads, can’t wait to see them in print,” Melancholybaby posted.

“Cara is only one part of the campaign,” Luxx reminded all the naysayers. “There are a million other aspects, so I don’t really get why the focus seems to be on her and whether or not people like her. It is not like she shot, styled, retouched and art directed this – though wouldn’t it be a hoot if she did?” she asked. “I think the styling and the hair/makeup on this don’t necessarily mesh well, but the images are a welcome break from the Chanel stark black and white campaigns we’d been seeing for awhile there,” she assessed.

HelplessnessGray commented, “I love the set and Cara is OK for me. She’s not that bad in this print. Maybe she’s overexposed but she doesn’t go so far as to be hated like this…”

Maybe forum members take their models too seriously, but I think both of these girls deliver as far as this campaign is concerned. In fact, I think the casting of Cara is actually kind of brilliant. Who better than a model-socialite to advertise clothes in the ultimate rich heiress-socialite type of setting?
