This look from Nicole Farhi typifies spring beauty. The models’ fresh, unadorned faces were punctuated with a bold lip, using custom mixed orange, fuchsia, and white lipsticks. Brows were upswept and lightly penciled, resulting in a soft, yet defined, frame for the eyes. A flesh-toned eye pencil on the waterline opened the eyes and the mascara-free lashes were a refreshing change.
In a similarly punctuated look, models at Jonathan Saunders (above right) were kept simple and clean with the exception of this bold, graphic eyeliner. With closed eyes, it looks like any other winged liner, albeit a big one, but a down turned gaze reveals a modern graphic twist.
While the hair at House of Holland was less than desirable, the two-toned eye was modern and easy to do at home. A warm coral-y red was swept across the upper lid while a dark smoky liner went across the lower lash line. If you’re looking to try this look at home, opt for a darker color on top and lighter, bolder color below as it will keep you from looking sad and droopy-eyed.
This look from Antonio Berardi (above right) is perfect for a spring night out. The skin is clean and free of color and the eyes are swept with a very subtle red hue. The bold and glossy lip dresses up the models’ clean faces and is wonderfully spring appropriate.
While not necessarily daytime appropriate, this red on red look from Julien Macdonald was a show stopper. To take this look from the runway to real life, stick with a matte orange-red lipstick and pair it with red dangly earrings and accessories. You’ll get the same overall effect without the effort involved in painting your hair.
At first glance, this look from John Rocha seems all about the headpiece but it’s really the defined contouring that’s the star. The heavy shadows added not only to the cheeks but also in the eyes and under the chin show just how far you can go to alter the shape of your face with makeup.
