Emanuel Ungaro S/S 2011: Paris Fashion Week

Well, if you’re Giles Deacon, you cover Volkswagen Beetles and animal sculptures with multi-colored flowers (flowers are an Ungaro signature, and a Deacon favorite), and have models walk a grass and flower-covered runway in petal-printed pumps.

Oh, yeah – you also have street style icon and Japanese Vogue Fashion Director Anna Dello Russo model in your show, wearing a sheer dress exposing a pair of culottes, and clutching something akin to a goat.

Though it may not erase the memory of last year’s glittered nipples and heart-shaped pasties, it’s a great way to start.

Deacon is best known for his lighthearted approach to fashion, so it was only natural that the classic side of Ungaro was shown in his debut collection.

Abundant with feminine frills, feathers, glitter, lace, headdresses, and flowers adorning the garments, the spring collection combined couture and color.

After Lohan’s embarrassing collection, Deacon is in the process of rebuilding the once legendary brand’s reputation. While some of the looks may have veered close to the tacky side, there are a handful of red carpet styles ready for Young Hollywood cocktail parties.
