Not to take away from the Met or the Louvre, perennial must-see destinations, but modern times call for modern museums and organizers have read the memo. Interactive museums, many of which are temporary pop-ups or exhibitions, are popping up all over the world. In line with the growing obsession toward food, many of these are odes to vices like ice cream, candy and pizza. Others pay homage to childhood (and adult) favorites like Snoopy and Hello Kitty. In any case, all of these museums make for uniquely unforgettable experiences that people of all ages (with the exception of one X-rated museum) can enjoy — and Instagram to their heart’s content. Needless to say stopping at any and all gift shops at these museums is a must!

The Museum of Pizza opens for a limited time this October in New York City. What's on deck? A cheese cave, pizza art gallery and a pizza beach. Obviously, that's enough to justify a trip, but to sweeten the pot, a portion of every ticket purchased will be donated to provide a free meal for a family in need.

Winky Lux, New York City
Makeup brand Winky Lux has opened its first (of five) experience store in New York City (the first of five). Basically, it's an interactive museum version of Sephora, aka a fully immersive retail experience. You walk through different rooms like the Alice in Wonderland styled floral garden, a hydration station in the clouds and a miniature scaled coffee shop (where you can order coffee). Next up are locations in Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
