I'm sensing that Vogue Italia is getting boring, there is this nostalgic feel. But really I am glad! Now I don't have to worry about buying it anymore. One less heavy weight on the shoulders...

While I am curious as to what the pulled editorial / cover contained I can't help but think that this is an incredible cover and story. Fall issues should be a celebration of fashion - there is no need for added controversy or antics. Not that I don't enjoy salaciousness every now and then but sometimes you want a return to glamour. The Vogue heritage regardless of nation harks back to this sort of very pristine elegance. This turn is old Hollywood and in line with the golden age nostalgia that appears to be on the rise yet again. Viktoriya is the perfect incarnation of Jean Harlow's girlish charm. She remains so pure even with the vintage accoutrement and styling. The look is severe in its own special way but on her it's somehow softened.

I can't think of a more perfect way to usher in Fall than with an elegant return to form. There will always be time for controversy later - October is right around the corner.

Besides I think this is very fresh after the last two Sept issues. Its hard to keep upping the ante - people push and push but eventually they'll hit a wall. Controversy has its own predictability in some ways - just look at someone like Madonna, we've come to expect controversy from her so when it happens its not particularly shocking. Same goes for magazines - we've gotten used to the VI extravaganza being a certain way each September so this is surprising. In some ways this is even more shocking than an outlandish edit - Franca and Steven are masters of expectation denial.

I don't like the ed, classic hollywood glamour photographed in the most boring and predictable way, what a waste of a good subject. There's not a single picture that stands out.

Seriously, a 30's inspired shoot for SEPTEMBER? I can't believe this. After the last 2 years of September brilliance - we get this?

Plus, its not even original on Meisel's behalf. Mert & Marcus play with the Jean Harlow-esque woman in TONS of their shoots. This looks like a second rate version of their work.

I remember the days when I used to cry of pure excitement and swoon over the brilliance of Vogue Italia. This is really truly disappointing.
i wholeheartedly agree

i understand everyone's anger at the cover ...
but to me it's just in the same vein of linda's cover, naomi's editorial
an history of bourgeoisie.
he already did it with gunievre (boredom) and eva mendes (sexy pin-up) where the attitude, everything reminds you of a bourgeoise
especially the styling, and decoration

this month bourgeoisie is based on a fictionnary actress.
it's ok, to me

im not a fan of the cover, its doesnt look modern or striking to me for a sept issue, her ed is lovely though, Meisel did a beautiful job.

Not a fan at all of the cover and main ed by Meisel. I find his photography boring and stale lately

I do love the editorial! Can't wait to get this issue.

Well, I'll be really upset if it's full of celeb eds like last year's September issue.

I`ll resort to being obvious: period drama... Again. Why for the love of mauve...?
That said, the eyes on the cover are haunting.
